1967 Custom Shelby GT500
I began this project with the intent of modelling a Shelby GT500. However, I sampled several reference images from similar years, so this beast is really more of a Frankenstein custom build. I used the Shelby GT500 as my main source of inspiration because when it was first introduced, Carroll Shelby himself said it was “the first car I’m really proud of,” and I feel the same about this 3d build. The exterior texture is a dark moss green with white stripes and the interior is a matte black with beige leather to really emphasise the power and elegance of the 67 GT500’s race-car. Shelby Mustang really came into its own both stylistically and performance-wise in 1967. After all, It was a 67 Shelby GT500 that starred as “Eleanor”, the ultimate dream car, in the movie Gone in Sixty Seconds, starring Nicholas Cage. This project was an amazing learning experience for me. It taught me a great deal about modelling organic shapes on hard surfaces, but also about the car itself and how much goes into the design and build of such a magnificent machine.
